Special Opportunity! Social Media Assistant (Part-Time Graduate Student Position)

AERE is seeking a graduate student to work as a paid social media assistant on a contract basis. This person will manage the Twitter presence for AERE and its two journals, the Journal of the Association of Environmental and Resource Economists (JAERE) and the Review of Environmental Economics and Policy (REEP). AERE is the premier organization for environmental and resource economists. JAERE and REEP are top journals in the field, with impact factors of 5.167 and 6.953, respectively. The social media assistant will interface with members of the AERE leadership and personnel from the journals’ editorial staffs.

  • Description: This position involves researching and crafting tweets and tweet threads that highlight articles from the two journals, AERE events and updates, authors who have published in the journals, and people from the AERE community. The social media assistant is also responsible for monitoring the three Twitter accounts, retweeting content when appropriate, and responding to inquiries from followers. This includes live-tweeting through the AERE annual meetings, held in June each year.
  • Key Qualifications: A general understanding of Twitter is required for this position. The preferred candidate will have a demonstrated presence in the academic space on Twitter, will be conversant with environmental and resource economics research, and will be skilled at writing in a pithy and engaging manner.

  • Expected Time Commitment: 3-4 hours per week
