Northeast Workshop on Energy Policy and Environmental Economics
Harvard Kennedy School, June 13-14, 2019
Call for Papers

The Northeast Workshop on Energy Policy and Environmental Economics will meet on Thursday and Friday June 13-14, 2019, at the Harvard Kennedy School. The Conference organizers are Joe Aldy of Harvard, Lint Barrage of Brown, Kenneth Gillingham of Yale, Geoffrey Heal of Columbia, Shanjun Li of Cornell, and Erin Mansur of Dartmouth. This workshop is the latest in a series of occasional Northeast Workshops, the most recent at Yale, Cornell, Dartmouth, and Columbia.

The workshop should be of primary interest to Northeast scholars involved in research in Energy Policy and Environmental Economics. Our goal is to assemble a set of papers on a variety of topics, reflecting the latest advances in energy and environmental economics. We are particularly interested in papers that examine key policy-oriented energy and environmental issues and rely on concepts or tools from public, development, macroeconomics, or industrial economics.

The workshop will feature plenary sessions with up to 12 papers with individual presentations (30 minutes per presentation), a discussant, and audience discussion. In addition, we will include a few short presentations (5-10 minutes) by graduate students, giving an opportunity to sketch out an area of their current research and highlight some central findings.

The organizers invite the submission of completed papers or substantive abstracts (3-5 pages) by March 1, 2019. Upload submissions here. 1 Please upload your paper as a PDF document. Ensure each upload contains your full name and email address. Please title the document as follows: LASTNAME_FIRSTNAME_TITLE_2019 NE Workshop

Submissions with complete papers will be given preference for the plenary sessions. Decisions will be communicated by March 31, 2019. In addition, if you would like to attend but do not want to submit a paper, please let Joe Aldy know at [email protected].

Participants are asked to cover the cost of their travel and hotel. Limited travel funds are available for graduate students, so please contact Joe Aldy if you do not have funds available and need some costs covered.
