Call for New JAERE EditorAERE’s official research journal, the Journal of the Association of Environmental and Resource Economists (JAERE), will have an open editorial position starting January 1, 2027. JAERE has a team of four editors (currently Mary Evans, Teevrat Garg, Arik Levinson, and Andrew Plantinga). Mary’s term ends this year. Each team member handles all incoming submissions on a rotating basis for two months out of every eight, currently about 35 per month. That means either finding reviewers and making editorial decisions, assigning co-editors to find reviewers and make decisions, or making desk rejections. The four-member editorial team works closely with the co-editors and interacts with the AERE Board and the University of Chicago Press on behalf of JAERE. The expected term length is four years. Benefits include collaboration with a team of thoughtful and good-natured colleagues, a front-row seat to cutting-edge research across our diverse field of economics, an opportunity to make a meaningful contribution to our profession, and a modest annual stipend. The AERE Board invites AERE members interested in joining JAERE’s team of editors to submit a statement of interest to AERE President Sheila Olmstead. The statement should explain the applicant’s qualifications, vision for the journal, and how they would work to advance the journal’s mission and honor AERE’s commitment to an inclusive environment in which all individuals are treated fairly. To receive full consideration, applications should be submitted via email to [email protected] by September 27, 2026, although applications will be accepted until the position is filled. A new editor will be selected by October 31, 2026. |
